Pub Run Clubs

Terms of Service

Last updated 15 September 2026

These Terms govern your use of Pub Run Clubs (the "Service"), a social running app operated by the Pub Run Clubs team ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

1. Your account

You must be at least 16 years old to use Pub Run Clubs. You're responsible for what happens under your account, for keeping your password secure, and for the accuracy of the information you provide. You can delete your account at any time from Settings; deletion is permanent.

1a. Pubs and alcohol

Club runs often finish at a pub. Drinking alcohol is never required to use the Service or to take part in a club run, and the Service does not sell alcohol. Where alcohol is bought, it is bought from the venue, subject to that venue's rules and the legal drinking age in your country (18 in the UK). Please drink responsibly, and never drink and drive.

2. What you can post

You keep ownership of the runs, photos, club descriptions, and other content you upload ("User Content"). By posting it you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display, and distribute that content solely to operate and improve the Service.

This licence does not extend to data we receive from Strava. Strava-sourced data is not User Content: we hold it only to show it back to you inside your own account, on the terms in section 4, and we take no licence to redistribute it.

You must not upload content that:

  • is unlawful, defamatory, hateful, or harassing;
  • infringes anyone else's intellectual property or privacy;
  • contains malware, spam, or attempts to interfere with the Service;
  • impersonates another person or misrepresents your affiliation.

We use automated profanity filters and a user-reporting system. We may remove content or suspend accounts that break these rules, at our discretion and without notice.

3. Clubs, events, and RSVPs

Clubs are user-created. Running with a group carries real-world risks — road safety, weather, alcohol consumption, injury. You take part in any run, meet-up, or pub visit entirely at your own risk. Pub Run Clubs is not a running club, tour operator, or insurer, and is not responsible for the conduct of club members, event organisers, or venues.

4. Strava integration

Connecting Strava is optional. If you connect it, you authorise us to read your basic profile and activity data through the Strava API (scopes read and activity:read) for the sole purpose of importing your own activities into your own Pub Run Clubs account. We never write to your Strava account.

  • We only read your own activities, and only around the start and end of a club event you have RSVP'd to.
  • Nothing is imported automatically — each suggested activity is imported or dismissed by you.
  • We do not sell, licence, redistribute, or otherwise share Strava data with third parties.
  • We do not use Strava data to train AI or machine learning models, or for benchmarking or data-mining products.
  • We never charge a fee for access to Strava data or Strava-powered features, and they are never placed behind a paywall.
  • Anything that comes from Strava — distance, time, elevation, route and activity link — is only ever shown to you. Club mates, leaderboards, club totals and public share pages never show or count runs imported from Strava.
  • We keep Strava figures for no more than seven days. After that the run keeps only its date, club, event and pub, and your own run page reads the figures live from Strava when you open it.
  • Badges, XP and city progress you've earned are Pub Run Clubs points and are kept.
  • Route maps are drawn in your browser using Google Maps; that is the only third party that ever receives a route line, and only to draw the page you asked for.

You can disconnect at any time from Settings, which revokes our access with Strava and deletes your Strava tokens and Strava-sourced data within 24 hours. Data already imported into your Pub Run Clubs account is removed when you delete your account. Your use of Strava is governed by Strava's API Agreement and Strava's Terms, which you must also comply with.

Pub Run Clubs is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Strava. Strava is a trademark of Strava, Inc.

5. Acceptable use

  • Don't scrape, reverse-engineer, or automate access to the Service.
  • Don't extract, republish, or redistribute Strava data obtained through the Service.
  • Don't create more than one account per person without our permission.
  • Don't use the Service to send unsolicited marketing to other users.
  • Respect rate limits and other technical controls.

6. Suspension and termination

We can suspend or terminate your account if you break these Terms, if we're legally required to, or if we discontinue the Service. You can stop using the Service at any time.

7. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We don't warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any data (including Strava data) will be accurate. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we exclude all implied warranties.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or in connection with the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (currently zero, as the Service is free) and (b) £100. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses.

9. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If the changes are material we'll notify you in the app or by email. Continued use after the changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of England and Wales, unless local consumer law says otherwise.
